  Villa Oraka
  Location in Bulgaria: village Stoykite, region SMOLYAN, see the map
  Type: Guest house
  Beds: 9
  Villa Oraka is situated in the picturesque village of Stoikite, 4500 feet above sea level, in the heart of the Rhodopes Mountain. The Villa offers 4 double and one single bedroom. The bathroom is on the first floor. There are toilets on the second and on the third floor with an additional shower in the second floor toilet.
It is 5 miles away from the ski-resort Pamporovo, 10 miles from the town of Smoljan and 60 miles from the historical town of Plovdiv. The Villa is located in the highest rows of houses, providing great views of Snezhanka Peak at eye-level. Villa Oraka has an authentic Bulgarian country style atmosphere, fostered by the wood-carvings almost anywhere you can lay your eyes on.
The Mehana /a Folk Style Tavern/ is furnished with typical traditional Rhodopean bags and woven. This is the common room where everybody gathers for dinner or just getting together.
Here is the fireplace, the beautiful wood-carved table that can seat 20 people, the stone on the wall and on the fireplace - a special kind, brought from the seaside with sea shells engraved in it. Some of this stone can be seen on the outside of the villa as well.
This room has also TV set. To the far left you can see the bar connecting the Mehana to the kitchen, so the person responsible for cooking will not miss any of the fun going on in the Mehana...
Observing the still burning coals under the grill-cooked dinner in the real log fireplace provides you with both dinner and romance.
This room is furnished with Rhodopean style ornaments, some of which can be seen hanging on the opposite wall. The wood carved patterns on the table are identical to the ones on the bar.
The wall-picture on the outside wall contains complex art symbolism and family logo. Every single detail in this villa is idea of the owner’s father and a reflection of his love towards the family, traditions and the mountains.
At the entrance of the Villa, right opposite you is a copper carving, depicting a Rhodopean couple welcoming you with wine and special bread called pita. This copper carving was hand-made after the faces of owner's grandparents.
Behind the picture is the villa's living room. It has a couch, two armchairs, a fireplace and a large balcony where you can have coffee while enjoying the brisk morning and mountain view. The great relaxing experience is all due to the calmness of the mountain, the green of the pastures, the lambs and cows eating nearby, the great views from every balcony and window and the authenticity of a real Rhodopean village, where time has preserved for itself real Rhodopean traditions, food, songs, language and people...
The Village of Stoikite is scattered among five different hamlets. It is mentioned for the first time in historical sources in a document from 1706 by the French traveler Pall Lukas. For a long time this was also the dwelling place of the shepherds from Shiroka Luka. Situated in the heart of the
Rhodopes Mountain, the village of Stoykite is the starting point for several of the hiking trails:
Shiroka Luka - Smoljan Lakes Hut or Perelik Hut;
Perelik Hut- Lednizata Hut;
Shiroka Luka-Gela;
Trigrad - Yagodina - Yagodinska Cave.
