BULGARIAN CULTURE

Every region in Bulgaria has its own traditions and clothing something one can compare with Staphorst and Volendam in Holland, only here it is spread across the complete country.

Especially in the Rodopi the people insist on their own identity. There are many festivals where one can watch the local people play music and dance, completely in their own local dressing and with their own instruments. This is also the area where one can find the Scottish bagpipes, but here of course in Bulgarian shape with less pipes and its own characteristic sound.

The people are very proud of their national heritage, but very hospitable to foreign people and very willing to be of your assistance in whatever language that is possible. Should you not be able to talk Bulgarian which is a very big possibility, then there is always somebody to be found who can help you in either English or German language.

Also enjoy the rich meals which will be cooked and served to you according to old traditions. Taste fish as you have never tasted fish before. Eat like in the old days wild bore from the spit. Here it is still possible. This is all made possible due to the government who has created many reservations across the country, where hunting is possible of course under government supervision and therefore keeps the wildlife living.
